Electric cars may not be so green after all, says British study

UPDATE (6/16): A reader points to a report saying that electric cars still produce less carbon even if their complete life cycle is included in the analysis.

Crikey, President Obama is now blaming ATMs and airport kiosks for unemployment. I guess we should expect his next policy proposals to include mandates to replace backhoes with shovels (or spoons), requirements that tractors be replaced by mules, and the like.

The head of the Georgia Association of Educators doesn't like Teach for America sending teachers to Georgia. From GPB:

A national education non-profit is sending hundreds of teachers to metro Atlanta public schools. Local educators say those jobs should go to Georgians.

The group plans to send 300 teachers to Cobb, Gwinnett, Clayton, Fulton and Dekalb counties this fall. They will teach everything from pre-k through 12th grade and stay on for at least 2 years.

Calvine Rollins is the president of the Georgia Association of Educators. She says the program is generally a good thing but worries some more needy candidates might be losing out on the jobs:

"Georgia does need more teachers because of the increase in class sizes however I believe that preference should be given to the great teachers that have been riffed or laid off due to the economy and budget cuts in some districts."
